Place on the Corner
02:56
|
|||
There's a place in my memories
That I save just for you
And they don't come knockin' much
But I love when when they do
She said, “I got six weeks left
'Til summer break
I can feel the air changing temperatures
I can see the highway signs”
We had a whole second story
To our family name
We checked every box while
We saved up all our change
Just a couple of kids still
Tryna' look ahead
But the age don't matter much
When the curtains drawn are red
We believe in a lifetime
There comes one sunny day
When you leave your past behind
You just give it all away
Y' feel a little bit wholesome
When you comin' home?
I've been kickin' around, lookin out for ya
I've been putin' down my telephone
Take a ride on two wheels
While I count to three
The sun might go down love
But that don't mean a thing to me
We got a place on the corner
We put the money down
We got a few good friends that
We see once in a little while
(When they come around)
In the last two years, babe
We really found our stride
It's pace that I really don't mind

Change Your Mind
02:12
|
|||
I’m not trying to change your mind
And I really mean that
I’m not looking to review
Whatever fool's been loving you
I don’t miss the way you kept me on a string, baby
Taking me for granted
Making fun of how I sing
No, I’m not trying to change your mind
About breaking up
I’m not here to tell you who or who not to be
Can’t you see this game of Hearts that your playing
Had me sweating like a gambler
So I’m glad that you’re not staying
I’m not trying to change your mind
About moving to L.A.
Since you never made the time for me anyways
So chase those dreams but
Careful where you land
I feel sorry for the next boy
You turn into another broken-hearted man
No I’m not trying to change your mind
Plus I know I couldn’t if I tried
So I’m not trying to change your mind

First Joint
03:48
|
|||
Now I’m thinking bout the first time
That I tried to wink with out some help
And then I figured out the way to heaven
Was hidden on the path to hell
I, I don’t think twice of what to say
When I’m with you
Still I get real nervous when you say “I love you, too”
Well, “I love you, too”
Now I’m thinking bout the first song
That I ever wrote for someone else
I bet the words were kinda dumb
But I could probably hum them to myself
Now I’m thinkin bout the first joint
That I ever rolled in the back of your car
That also happenes to be
Where you first met me
And heck, we’ve made it pretty far
Now I’m thinkin bout the corner of your kitchen
Where I first said “I love you”
I said, “You know I love you, right?”
You laughed and you said, “Right, I love you too.”

I’m gonna leave the city soon
You’re gonna see
Just a cup of coffee and my guitar
‘S all I’ll need
I’m gonna get up early
‘N catch the morning sun
One day I’m gonna hit the road
If you want to you can come
I’m gonna liquidate my wants
and my needs
Just give me this lonesome heart
And my favorite pair of jeans
Pretty soon I’ll know every flower,
river, rock and tree
But that sun don’t shine as brightly
When you’re not next to me
I might write a #1
Hit melody
Gonna be a passive income
‘Til I’m 93
We can get a little house
On thewest side of Maui
But first I’m gonna do the dishes
So you don’t get mad at me
But first I’m gonna do the bathroom
So you don’t get mad at me
Maybe I’ll pick a little while I do it like this
I’m gonna hit the road like Jack
And all them beats
I’ve got a whale to catch somewhere
Out at sea
I’m gonna count the stars
Until I fall asleep
To save time, we could split the sky
And you can sit right next to me

Sugar & Salt
01:45
|
|||
Sugar and Salt were two twins from birth
And though they’d seen plenty
Of this sweet and salty earth
They never would have guessed
What with their disparate tastes
That with the help of Hot Toast
They’d soon share the same plate
Sugar had met Toast
While Cinnamon was in town
They’d shared a few drinks
And when the morning came ‘round
They all met up with Coffee
At Coffee’s freshly made grounds
Coffee said, “Come on in”, and they all took a seat
“You three, I’ve some friends, that I’d like you to meet.”
And when sugar looked on, he came to a halt,
For there, at the table, was his twin sibling,
“Salt!” Sugar said, a tad louder than he’d thought
“What brings you ‘round here, near this fine Coffee pot?”
Salt said, “Sugar, sweet twin, meet Fried Egg and Toast”
And Sugar Said “Ah yes, Toast and I are close”
So you see, although different, with their inherent tastes
The twins, Sugar and Salt, shared the same breakfast plate

Starts to Feel Natural
03:22
|
|||
Behold I was there the one dancing alone
Wet stone and garden with a spliff that I rolled
I love and I cry and it starts to feel natural
I’m alone I’m alive and I’m about to breakdown
But strength comes a heavy and pours down like rain
Thunder and lightning are never there when I need them
From here, I started walking, from a indica high
And she, she started laughing and we walked outside
And then I played a record and came through like fire
And the heat became electric and it burst into light
In the night think about you and the mysteries of life
And there that’s within it keeps me alive
We melt on each other yeah you can borrow my hats
Tonight I’m on the road and I’m-a shoot till I scratch
Ahead are the martyrs, the vets, and the kings
Unaware of what the cold night brings
And there, I had a lifetime, holding my head
Higher than most, and I’m-a wind up dead
I’m dry and inspired and I’m hitting a roll
It starts to feel natural as I start to lose control

Nightingale Song
02:34
|
|||
I was runnin’ before I walked
I was singin’ before I talked
I was dreaming before I’d fallen asleep
But not before the nightingale
Sang to me
I was humming before I spoke
I was sleeping before I woke
I was keeping a beat
When I couldn’t read
When they told me, "write a fiction"
I without a premonition
Wrote out my biography
I was smoking between the sets
I was gamblin' before each bet
I was searchin' for something I couldn’t see
The feeling of a heartbeat
Falling, falling over me
I was laughin’ before I cried
I was reaching for a velvet sky
I was looking for somebody just like me
But that wasn’t what I needed then
And I’m sorry for how I treated you
Best believe I got a different view
‘Cause you are everything I need

And You
04:27
|
|||
And You
Who believes you're incapable of love what
Kinda heaven did you dream up for
Yourself and all your troubled friends too
You who’d judge before you speak
Who thinks you don’t need feet to walk
A mile
In someone else's shoes
You who defends without thinking about
How empathy came sneaking up now
Don’t even think about it
Just seems to leave you out as
Soon as you
Hit the barroom door
And you who don’t believes inside of himself ‘til
You’re looking in the mirror
Feeling like somebody else
Is talking through you
I like snow days
I like sleeping in late
I like a long highway that
Brings me back around your way love
I think you know me
More than you show me
Just let it play, we’ll fall asleep, and wake up in the late afternoon
Say what you will but don’t forget you
Made your bed and all the problems in your head
Might be existential dread,
So instead, you let them pass through you
Now’s not the time to put up your defenses
Social situations
Privelegaged apprehensions
Novice expectations
Searchin' for the ghost inside the train station
And you who still believe you got it figured out
But still afraid to shout
When you’re eyes have seen a drought
‘Cause boys don't cry‘s a lie that you still believe in
No, you didn’t hide nothing
Didn’t walk away
You didn’t say something
Oh, what was I supposed to read your mind or something?
Don’t want to try to leave you behind or nothing
Just wait until the crowd thins out and play something

Coming Home to You
01:59
|
|||
Stayin’ out late rollin’ dice
A shot of whiskey over ice
But none of these things are quite as nice
As when I come home to you
Hit the road with my best friends
We’ll plan a tour that never ends
But what’s the point if I can’t depend on
Rollin’ back home to you
Oh I wanna roll home to you
When I’m feeling blue
You know exactly what I do
I book a ticket on a plane that flew
One way back home to you
Broken records, scratched tapes
My favorite coffee mug and pillowcase
Best of all I get to see your face
‘Cause I’m-a comin’ home to you
Yeah I’m coming back home to you
Oh I’m-a comin’ back home to you

Fishin' With No Bait
02:54
|
|||
Oh don’t make me nervous
I don’t feel like this on purpose
I’m just trying to find the time
I’ll take you out on a date
And we could hang around ‘til it gets late and
We can try fishin’ with no bait
Tried to write you a letter
Telling you about the weather
Since you left the skies turned grey
‘N if you come my way again
We can hit the lake and play pretend and
We can try fishin’ with no bait
I could swear I cast a
hundred lines don’t even ask why
I still try my hand today
All in hopes that you
Might like to cast your line out too with mine
And we’ll try fishin’ with no bait
